That Will Do!

Bullfinch

I was up early this morning so had the pleasure of watching a pair of bullfinches in the pale sunshine. She spent some time feasting on the black sunflower seeds before joining her mate on the branch.

You may consider the lone branch on which they are perched somewhat unusual but we left this deliberately. When the rest of the tree had a very severe haircut last year, we kept this branch to hang a feeder which would be out of reach of squirrels or crows. That purpose has yet to be tested but the birds are all using it as, from it, they have a clear view of the feeders on the hanger.
