Lungwort lifted

Early last year, when our very draughty and decayed dining room window was replaced, P cleared the overgrown shrubs from the area to allow access for the work. This was long overdue, as they were increasingly obstructing our beautiful view of the valley, though I was sad to lose the exuberant flowers and scent of the philadelphus and spiraea. Last summer, in the newly opened up and not yet improved space, neglected plants liberated from years of deepening shade and competition from much larger neighbours suddenly grew and bloomed - clumps of pretty pulmonaria with spotted leaves, then the dramatic leaves and stems of vivid orange crocosmia. Now, the area is shortly to become a patio and I'm trying to lift the plants I want to save before the weather turns wet again. The pulmonaria (or lungwort) proved straightforward to dig up once I had removed the surrounding weeds. It's fairly shallow rooted and the plants are not large. It's in flower, with a pretty mix of pink and mauve blooms, so it's probably the worst possible time to move it, but I dug several clumps out with plenty of soil and  have accommodated them temporarily in a large, shallow tub in the shade, with water covering the roots, so I hope it will survive for a few days until I can relocate it more permanently.

The photo is of course not lungwort but the lilac beside our gateway. It's been a perfect, sunny day with a light breeze, everything is flowering, and the scent of the lilac is gorgeous.
