Woke up the sound of the smoke alarm beeping at me . Just needs the battery changing, I thought. Didn't have any instructions and no manufacturer name on it but did a google search and managed to get the cover off , though couldn't open the battery compartment. D then phoned me for our scheduled phone conversation and then JS came round for us to go to the fabric shop in Beeston. It was lovely and sunny by then so we went for coffee by the canal to start with. We had a good browse in the shop and both made successful purchases, and on the way home we called in to Js house as she was interested in seeing it. When we got home the beeping from the alarm had stopped, and we decided that the battery was probably sealed and you weren’t meant to change it, so I left a message for the electrician to call me (he didn’t) . Whilst we were out I’d had a delivery of plants from Sarah Raven - one of them had completely broken off. This or a photo of the smoke alarm were my only choices for a blip! Did some garden pottering for an hour or so.
