Coming home

After having spent the last two weeks in Morocco on a photo trip in the High Atlas mountains we finally went home today. The picture shows the stunning airport at Marrakech where the windows create interesting shadow patterns inside. It was an absolutely fantastic trip as we had a brilliant guide with much local knowledge and friends who have been coming to Morocco for the last ten years and are renting a house in one of the valleys. Having never been to Morocco before it was a real eye opener. We started off in Marakech which to me felt as if I had stepped into a painting. Mayhem on the streets, people, motor bikes, cars and donkeys creating an absolutely fascinating and visually overwhelming picture. What I had not imagined quite to this extent was the prevailing poverty especially higher up in the Atlas Mountains. There are still many villages that do not have running water, only a well from where water is collected.
