Empty honeycomb

The misleadingly titled "Green Day at The National Archives" turned out not to feature the American rockers at all, but to be a general energy saving and biodiversity event. Among the day's events was a talk be the beekeeper who looks after the three hives in the grounds of the Archive. He got very excited because one hive, which swarmed a few weeks back, and he thought would be nearly empty, turned out to be so full of bees and honey that they had started to make new combs in the roof of the hive, which is where this one came from.

The spring honey was a light colour and delicate flavour, but lovely fresh from the comb!
