A Lost Island

By lostisland

Meet Claude.

Claude is a crab who came from Dorset to live with us in Sheffield.

As you can see, he is a bit depressed.

He has been hearing rumours about how increasing dissolved CO2 and increasing temperature in our oceans will have serious consequences for hard-shelled marine organisms in the future. As the concentration increases, it will be harder for crustaceans, molluscs, starfish, sea urchins, corals, and lots more animals to produce shells. This will have serious implications for locomotion, feeding and protection from predation, to name just a few things.

One article that made him sad is here

This could result in a change to the whole system, meaning that we might have to start getting used to jellyfish with our chips.... yeugh.

Boo to CO2 emissions and global warming!!
