Holly's Helping Hands

What would we do without our little helpers? We wouldn't be able to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for Children's Charities that's what would happen. So today's picture is one I couldn't resist and was actually taken the night before I went to Slovenia (don't tell Blipfoto cause it's meant to be one taken today) and I'll explain what it was all about in a moment.

But first let me just say I can see be the medium of Twitter and Facebook that's it's been a busy weekend for all of you as our Twitter timeline and Facebook News have been littered with stories of aching feet, money raised and even more people registering.

Wee Kirsti, who you'll remember from 27th February didn't have her side kick with her today as Ella was off on a romantic weekend with her boyfriend, however that didn't stop Kirsti from stepping out and doing a whole load of miles. We then noticed that John and Marion Daly, who are part of the Aching Soles Team (see 6th March story) have sore feet tonight after completing 11 miles, while Linda McKeitch, who enjoyed The KiltWalk so much last year, that she's signed up again, walked 17.1 miles today, but then Linda likes a challenge so we knew we'd get her again.

Vicky Gordon, Lynn and Martin went on a training walk from Larkhall to Motherwell via Chatelerault, around the lake then back again and finally Chris Wroniecki, Brenda Douglas, Martin Douglas, Ivor Neville & Lorna Neville walked from Cupar to St Andrews and back.

I really can't remember this level of training last year, so I'm well impressed, however I have to say my training peaked two weeks ago at 7 miles and that will be that until 8th April as I don't want to peak too early, ha,ha.

As for registrations then they just keep growing and growing with over 630 registered for Hampden to Loch Lomond and over 340 for Speyside, so we only need 30 more to have enough people to cover enough miles to walk round the world, never mind The KiltWalk's 26 miles, quite an achievement really, but let's keep registering so we can shout form the roof tops that "The KiltWalk has walked round the World".

So to finish, let me explain the background to today's picture. Those hands are Holly's hands and Holly is my 17 year old daughter, who was in the right place at the wrong time as far as she was concerned.

My mission was to take a whole bunch of badges to Slovenia and raise as much money as possible, however Carey had given me a whole box full and we had to count them out, to make sure we had enough for the plane and around the bars of Trieste and Koper. It turned out Carey had given me around 540 badges, which Holly and I bundled into groups of tens and then bagged in 100's so I could fit them in my sporran.

She protested initially, but then I reminded her we used to do this kind of thing when she was little with the 'coppers in the money jar' so it turned into a race to see who could count and bag the quickest and guess what, we had great fun doing it!!
