Wall Art, Lucca

Today I was wandering around the ancient walled city of Lucca, visiting all the Byzantine churches. Lots of architectural and historical sights. However, what appealed to me was the textural surface detail as everything was layered, everything was added to, rather than knocked down and rebuilt. The walls were living breathing history covering a thousand years and still unfinished.
