What's a panto?

How do you describe a panto to Chinese visitors? like a Chinese opera for children? Well, not exactly.

We found ourselves unexpectedly going to a panto , Aladdin, at the Macrobet arts centre this afternoon.  We were showing our visitors around Stirling university when I bumped into a firend who suggested we go to the panto. Well, we had missed the first half and the theatre very generously allowed us in for the second half.

Our visitors were fascinated, and enjoyed the spectacle though how much they grasped of the dialogue remains uncertain because the strong Glaswegian accent had me struggling to understand  it.

One of our students is a film maker and I got to do a voiceover for a film he is making. It will be su-titled into Chinese.  For the purpose fo the voiceover I lost my Welsh accent....
