La Dolce Vita
Archive Blip
Waaaay back in 2004, we pushed the boat out and went for two weeks to a restored Tuscan farmhouse, car included, in order to explore the stunning countryside of this very picturesque part of Italy. We were in a quarter part of this farmhouse, probably the best place we have stayed in, the views were over vineyards and farmland towards the towers of San Gimignano (San Gim), a very beautiful town set on a hill, probably about 2 miles from Il Coltro. There was a swimming pool at the bottom of the garden, and walks from here in quiet country lanes. It was an amazing holiday. Sienna was around 1 mile away, Florence a little bit further. Then all the little places in between.
Ken and Veronica drove from Rome to stay with us for a couple of nights, and we had a great day exploring Volterra with them.
We didn't eat out all the time. The kitchen was well equipped and we would buy delicious fresh ingredients from markets or the little shop in the village, cook, then eat outside in the warm sunshine, with the stunning views.
Really must return to this very beautiful part of Italy.
