Sage

After hearing the fantastic news that Ruby had passed her final audition and gained a place as an associate at The Northern Ballet, we had to drive up to Newcastle in blizzard conditions.
We had dinner at Carluccios and stayed overnight in a hotel so we could be at the hospital for an early appointment to see a plastic surgeon about Mr P's hands.
On top of his ongoing health problems, he has a condition called Dupytrons Syndrome which makes his fingers permanently bend towards the palm of his hand.
He has had numerous operations to straighten them over the last twenty years but sadly it returns after a couple of years. The specialist we saw today is pioneering a new treatment which avoids surgery as it uses injections and manipulation..
He is going to treat Mr P's hands, one finger at a time starting in a couple of months. He has problems with seven of his fingers so hopefully it means seven less operations!
This building was opposite our hotel and is a music centre called Sage Gateshead, a fine example of the new and old architecture that sit side by side in Newcastle.
