Life though my lens

Last Day of the Fieldtrip

Today is the last day of our MSc IPG fieldtrip. We headed out from Furnace Creek Ranch where we stayed the previous night for a last day of geology. We managed to looked at lacustrine deposits, alluvial fan and fluvial deposits before a huge sandstorm hit. When parts of the sandstorm cleared we saw in the distance a thunderstorm descending on Death Valley (the driest place in North America). The storm hit with bright flashes of lightning and heavy rain which caused the alluvial fans to prograde further down the mountains - depositing on the road in places. Geology In Action! To finish the day we had to complete a group assessed piece of work which was followed by a swim and some beers to celebrate the end of the trip.
