Slow Play!

This is a blip only golfers will understand so please bear with me. To the rest of the world i.e non golfing community it will seem quaint but believe me there is no greater sin that a golfer can commit than "slow play".

Well, once a year Fiona, an old friend from Glasgow, and I dust off our golf clubs and make for Muthill golf club, a small friendly country club on the outskirts of Crieff.
 
We have a lot of catching up to do so there is a much talking .
Well, we were kind of aware that there were folk behind but we didn’t take too much notice. In fact I joked to Fiona that the first thing women visitors to the club see is a big notice in the loo warning them of the danger of Slow Play. This is taboo in the golf world and women of a certain age are prime suspects.
 
No matter we were enjoying our afternoon in this beautiful part of the Perthshire countryside.
 
But later in the clubhouse we are reprimanded in no uncertain terms by a male golfer for “slow play” and told we should have allowed the men through...
