Boogie on down

Today was technically a day off. However I was up at the crack of dawn with my host, another volunteer called James (retired army brigadier), the charity co- ordinator Peter, and Marvin to do an hour of intense physical workout. I had planned to use the opportunity out here to get fit and lose a couple of stone in weight. So today was off to a good start. I don't think I will be able to drag my aching body out of bed tomorrow. I've given up chocolate and not had any since last Tuesday.
This afternoon we went to Restart where we saw some of the children having dance lessons with Marvin, I contemplated joining in, but my legs refused after the workout this morning. It was great to see the children having fun.
Early evening I had discussions with Mary and James about various aspects of how Restart is run. We discussed things from both the charity fundraising perspective as well as the day to day running of the centre on the ground.
Mary has tasked me with tackling things from a PR perspective to raise the profile of the charity. In particular, the powerfull tool of social media has not really been utilised up until now. I will be working on improving the website with the assistance of one of the young staff members at the centre. He hopefully has the technical ability I'm lacking to convert my ideas onto the website. The facebook page will be relaunched and I will be training the staff so they can all contribute to keeping the page fun and interesting. I will look at doing things with Twitter, Instagram and Flickr. Any other suggestions welcome! Please take a moment to follow the facebook page Sanata Charitable Trust.
I've also been tasked with sorting out the library at the centre, as well as doing reading groups with the children when they get back from school.
So all in all a very busy few weeks ahead.
Useful tips from any website designers would be welcome. Tomorrow's blip will be about Mary and how Restart was born. Thanks for reading x
