Wound up in Wexford

Palais Claudio Bravo

Claudio Bravo (1936-2011) was a hyperrealist artist.  He was born in Chile, lived for some time in Spain, and moved to Morocco in 1972.

He bought property in Taroudannt and built a splendid palace.  We visited there today, admiring his art, and his eclectic collection of Moroccan and other oriental and Middle Eastern artefacts.

Said, our driver and guide from Naturally Morocco was almost as excited to be visiting the Palace as us - he took loads of photos on his phone.  Here he is posing in front of one of Claudio Bravo's pictures, whilst our guide at the palace took his photo.

After our visit, we had Moroccan tea overlooking a small lake, with the High Atlas mountains in the background (see extra photo).  This is "flaunting your wealth" taken to extremes in a country with a significant water shortage.  They had floods in November 2014, but have only had 2 days of rain since then - in October.  The water table is falling rapidly.  Normally, the High Atlas mountains would be snow topped at this time of year.
