Too fat to fly

Today we begin the long journey back to Scotland and there is a sense of relief.
At last I can pack the mosquito sprays and creams. Yes, despite constant spraying I have been bitten. Maybe it’s my fault because I like to sit on the balcony in the evening – prime mozzie time.

Behind the hotel is tropical garden with three African parrots. Romeo, blue, age 34 , and his younger companions  both aged 7, Abe and Lorraine.
Romeo bosses them around, constantly picking fights.

They waddle around the undergrowth.
“Have they had their wings clipped?”

“No,” says the young gardener whose job it is to look after them.
“They are too fat to fly. Visitors feed them. Popcorn.”

Oh dear! The worldwide obesity crisis is not confined to adults, and we have seen plenty of that in the last couple of weeks, but it’s also affecting animals too.

Check out my parrot video on YouTube.

And check out this link to the world’s fattest cats.  Prepare to be shocked!
