Gone in 48hrs.
A 100 years of banking gone in 48 hours. Amesbury. The Hong Kong and Shangers (formerly Midland) closed. 1915 this branch opened. A few moans but everybody knew there was no point in protesting. I had a good rummage through the skip in the hope of finding a couple of unwanted brown envelopes with old cash --- no luck.
Trivia. Which bank was the first to employ female cashiers. Midland in 1907.
