Liathach traverse

Our walk for today is this superb ridge walk along the sandstone wall of Liathach in Torridon. A steep ascent up one end from sea-level gets you to the ridgline, where you then have to clamber along the ridge, up and down the various pinnacles from the top and one end to the top at the other, before you run out of mountain and it plunges back down to the sea.

The extra is a picture taken of one side of the rather Tolkienesque 'Goblins' gate', complete with orange trousered goblin. The sandstone that makes up the rock here has horizontal bedding and vertical jointing that has weather out to make the whole stack look like it is made out of rounded leg blocks.

It was a really splendid sunny and windless day to be up on the top of the world.
