Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Two plants

First of all, thank you all so much for your kind messages on the occasion of my 2000th blipday yesterday. I am very grateful.

Today, two very different flowers. The main photograph is of an uprooted Pilosella aurantiaca.  Commonly known as fox-and-cubs, orange hawkweed, tawny hawkweed, devil's paintbrush, grim-the-collier it is a perennial plant in the daisy family Asteraceae and is native to alpine regions of central and southern Europe. This one was growing locally in a patch of dry waste ground.

The "extra" is our Christmas Amaryllis which at long last has agreed to flower.
