Rain in Winchester during the morning, so our only excursion was to M&S to buy some lunch and to Tourist Information to try and find a book about Winchester for Ann.
Our journey home ran to time (not so for people going to London), but the seats on the Cross-Country trains are just so uncomfortable.  We caught the Leeds train in Sheffield to get back to Barnsley and Merv picked us up at the station, so we were back for 5pm.  The way the train operating companies keep staffing on the local trains to a minimum is a disgrace!  The young woman on the train was expected to operate the doors and keep everyone safe, take fares/ check tickets and also to put down a ramp for the man who was being taken in his wheel chair.  The train was packed with shoppers going home both from Sheffield and Meadowhall.  How did we come to expect so much from lower paid workers when the executives cream off so much.  No wonder people are beginning to to show their displeasure with elected governments.
