Iconic images of Scotland

We have annual membership of Historic Scotland
and one of the perks is that we can use their excellent shops for Christmas presents.

There is the added bonus that few people visit it at this time of the year so there is no fighting through crowds.

Todays photo shows three iconic images taken from the castle:  Robert the Bruce, the Wallace Monument (in the middle distance) and some Scottish landscape in the background- The Ochils.

Just watched the documentary on Chernobyl, the nuclear reactor that blew up thirty years ago in the Ukraine.  When I was working on the Glasgow Herald we had a visiting Russian journalist who had been sent to Chernobyl by Moscow  shortly after the explosion.

Was he scared going into a radioactive zone? Yes he said, but he had to go. It was his job.

Quite frankly I would have refused. But maybe that’s not an option in Russia.
