Dinner with George (Washington)

Tonight we had dinner with George Washington. Well. A Washington lookalike , a novel eating /historical /performance event in Barbados.

It's all part of the new trend to bring more culture and history into tourism on the  island . After all there is plenty here but they have never really developed it.
This weekly event held is held in the George Washington House, once owned by his family but in 2004 it was about to be demolished to make way for flats when a visit  by both Bill and Hilary Clinton led to it being saved.

George Washington  spent six weeks as a 19 year old there accompanying  his brother Lawrenxe who had been sent there by the family in the hope that a change of air would cure his TB. It didn't.

But those few weeks on Barbados are reckoned to have been highly influential on the young George Washington and he was very impressed by the truce with Cromwell's forces:"no taxation without representation " and this later became incorporated  into the Declaration of Independence .

Now for something  very modern....
The man sitting next to me at dinner had been operated on by a robot  though the surgeon stood by....just in case.

Thank you all for your good wishes please forgive lack of comments.
