Combining

So I've been combining....

Birthdays in the offing I was in my favourite shop - a beautiful converted barn and farm complex in Chipping Campden in the North Cotswolds. They had all the windows and doors shut as an enormous combine was whirring up and down all the surrounding fields kicking up an immense dust cloud. On the way out with a lighter wallet (glad the hubby isn't on blip at this stage!) I just knew I had to block their drive, park up and get a few shots.

The machine was vast! It was a huge German Claas Lexion 600, the most powerful combine in the world, which runs on a Mercedes Benz V8 engine with capabilities of achieving 80 tonnes of wheat an hour. It has laser guidance, cruise control and GPRS to monitor and transfer all it's data onto the internet in real time. A far cry from the early reaping, threshing and winnowing of by-gone years! It was a magnificent sight!
