Bee hive or composter?

Ok....so all these bees I've been photographing for the bee watch survey ...well I know where some of them have been coming from now.

So far we have four different flavours of bee, but when sticking peapods in the composter a lot of bees flew out (I've already told you this, right?)

Well....here's a little pic of about 5 minutes after I'd taken the lid off and plonked the scraps in....after most of the bees had calmed down (well...they werent actually angry...Ive never seen an angry bumble....but they all flew out of the new exit to their home)

So...we have a beehive in our composter. But being bumbles they'll all die off except the queen in the winter....Im not sure if I'll leave the composter there or not as I expect next years queen may want to live in my composter too.

Decisions, decisions.

(besides, they're minding their own business and they're not vicious, stingy honeybees)
