Light in the darkness

Like the brief doomed flare of exploding suns that registers dimly on blind men's eyes, the beginning of the horror passed almost unnoticed; in the shriek of what followed, in fact, was forgotten and perhaps not connected to the horror at all.

Claire and I visit Fife. She's looking for somewhere to stay while she does her probation year at a Glenrothes high school. From the harbour at Elie to the modern flats at Dalgety Bay, we scoped it all. And reached no decision.
