Wound up in Wexford

By Neatwithice

Close encounter

I meandered down to the pond, initially to photograph the lilies.  Whilst there, I saw a large dragonfly laying eggs in the pond, and snapped a few photos, to confirm my feeling that it was an Emperor.  It was only when I later looked at the photos on the computer that I realised I had also captured a newly emerged damselfly, with the exuvia just below it.

Emperor dragonflies eat insects - I doubt if this little damselfly was yet able to fly, and I wonder if it survived this encounter.
