Fire!

Our local Fire Brigade in Bridge of Allan held an Open Day and despite the rain a fair number of people turned up, mostly families with young children.

What’s more the children were able to sit in the fire engine, and get photographs taken wearing helmets.

Then came a 999 call and the fire engine was whipped into action.

It turned out to be a call to the local residential care home, the source of most false alarms.

For me it provided an unexpected blip on a very wet dreich Saturday afternoon.

Oh yes I learnt a disturbing fact: it only takes three breathes in a smoke filled house to render you unconscious and  ten breathes to kill you.
