'The Black Dog'

While visiting a   friend in Larbert hospital this afternoon I noticed a series of metal sculptures in the inner courtyards.

There must be a story behind them I thought.

Sure enough on the wall was an explanation.

They were made in a sculpture workshop by war veterans to help them through their experience of mental illness.

The images were inspired by the 'black dog’ which Winston Churchill referenced as a metaphor for his experience of depression.

It is one of many excellent projects run by Artlink Central , a  community  based arts organisation in Stirling.
