The hills are alive…with diggers

Yes diggers were in action on Dumyat, part of The Ochils, today.

Rumours of their appearance went like grease lighting around the neighbourhood.
Could it be true?
Well, it is.

I went up there for a walk and sure enough there were two bulldozers busy creating a path to the summit.

And it’s all legal. Apparently its part of a £10 million mitigation package by Scottish Power for the Stirling area in compensation for the giant power lines they have inflicted on our landscape.

This is all part of the current trend to make the countryside more accessible, which is good but in fact they end up creating a sanitised environment.
