Mass walk on Park of Keir

We have won all the legal and moral arguments, said Mark Ruskell our Green MSP,  speaking to over 200 supporters this morning.

We had climbed to the top of Gallow Hill this morning to show our opposition to the recent Scottish Government decision to overturn the findings of the Public Inquiry which had rejected planning permission for Judy Murray’s tennis centre.

Mark Ruskell has supported us for years in our efforts to preserve this bit of wild landscape for the local community.  He was accompanied by two other politicians , Stephen Kerr, who raised the matter in the House of Commons last week and Alexander Stewart our local MSP.

All said this was an affront to the democratic process in this country.

Well, we were astonished at the depth of feeling in the community and the number who were prepared to give up their Saturday morning to make a climb to the top of Park of Keir.
There were people, children and dogs of all ages, along with folk who had travelled not only from nearby Stirling but Edinburgh too to support our cause.

About one hundred started from Dunblane and another hundred from Bridge of Allan. And we all met in the woods at the top of Park of Keir where there were speeches.

This just shows the level of indignation there is at the grassroots over the way the Scottish Government has simply ignored the wishes of local people and the democratic process.
