Japanese water gardens

Today we visited the famous Stobo Japanese water gardens.

The autumn colours were breathtaking and the gardens with their series of tumbling waterfalls spectacular.

Set in five acres of a secluded glen it was built over 100 years ago. Normally it is only open to the public once a year under Scotland garden scheme but we got invited along on a private visit organised by the Scotland Japanese Garden society.

Finding it proved something of a challenge because we mistakenly relied on the sat nav on my iphone which took us on a conducted tour of Peebles before M said “enough” stopped the car, and got out an old fashioned map.

We were not alone. Others had similar problems. What is it about sat navs that they take you within ten miles or so of your destination then lead you on a wild goose chase?

Has anyone else ever had similar problems?
