Table with a view.
Sunday.
A drive over the boarder with MrC's brother and his wife for Sunday lunch at The Inn at Whitewell, on the banks of the River Hodder.
A delightful old country inn. Parts dating back to the 1300's when it was home to Walter Urswick keeper of the King's Forest of Bowland in Lancashire.
G had booked a table for us by the window, and this was the view. I couldn't quite get the river in the picture as well because it was right under the window.
It was a lovely drive to the inn, through the woods where the trees were just beginning to change colour.
G drove so we could enjoy the view.
Sat nav took us down some very narrow country lanes, much to G's annoyance!
Fortunately only had to pull over once to let a horse and a couple of cars pass.
The only disappointment was that when we ordered the roast beef, we were told that they had none left! That was at 12.30pm. Couldn't quite believe it.
So we all ordered the lamb shank instead, which was delicious, and followed this with plum and almond tart served with clotted cream. Yummy!
The weather was a bit cloudy, with brief appearances by the sun, but so warm for the time of year.
Had a walk down along the river to the stepping stones, which were almost under water. No one attempted to cross!
Then back to G&J's. Nice to sit and relax. I couldn't eat anything else, but the other three had a late pasta supper.
We did however manage a couple of bottles of wine while watching Strictly, and Victoria.
Stayed over, and just arrived back home.
What an enjoyable weekend.
Thank you so much for your comments hearts and stars for my Sunrise. All very much appreciated.
No such sunrise today.
Hope you all stay safe when the storm arrives later today.
I think we may be lucky and miss the worst.
