I Don’t Believe It

BnB breakfast first thing. This being a working pottery, everything here is home made.

En route to Mum in Laws, a very brief (2 minute) look at the sea. Strange sky. To Tesco’s for cool bags, plastic gloves and strepsils for J.

Main job this morning, defrosting an iced up freezer. J sets to, I head to Sainsbury’s. En rote, the briefest of visits to the near adjacent pick your own farm to look at the pumpkins.

Realise I have left a debit card in the machine at Tesco’s. Doh ! Take provisions back to Mum in Law’s, then back to Tesco’s. Assistant there tells me quite reasonably she has accessed Amazon and sorted her Christmas list using my card.

Back to Mum in Law’s. The sky has got a lot weirder, as has the sun which now looks like a pumpkin itself. Saharan dust mixed with smoke from Portuguese and Galician wildfires, sent courtesy of ex hurricane Ophelia.

Two facts this weekend from reading the Christchurch Times:
* two firemen were killed 30 years ago, near my Mum in Laws, when the strong winds blew a tree into their fire tender
* One foot in the Grave was filmed here too. I never knew that. One of the very best sit coms
