Dante Alighieri

As it happens, I live not far from this guy, who is credited with being the father of Italian language. He decided to write his main work in the regional dialect of Tuscany, although he himself borrowed some words and expressions from other dialects and was aware that the first proper form of "Italian" literature was born in Sicily.

As days go by, I try to taste the good food and sometimes wander in the countryside. I have spotted a good grocery round the corner, and this is a good beginning: I might cook some dishes I have long neglected. The weather forecast for Monday is worrying, as the media keep repeating that the "son of hurricane Ophelia" is coming. Usual scaremongering?
