Lunch Break

There are tree surgeons at work outside the house. This magnificent old beech tree is being felled over a couple of days. It's such a shame to see it go but it has some kind of fungus and it would cause a lot of damage if it were just left. This is one of the surgeons unclipping his harness and chainsaw ready to take a break. One of the trees nearer the house has to have a whole lot of dead wood cut out of its crown. The road's closed again tomorrow so maybe I'll get another tree-related blip. Over the years we've lived here a good number of trees - mainly elms - have gone. We're lucky because there isn't a big tree directly in front of the house, so we get more light, but we can enjoy all the others along the road.

In Edinburgh this morning. Some work issues to ponder this afternoon.
