Puppet theatre- Palermo

Attended a very lively performance by Teatro "Ippognifo" a traditional Sicilian puppet theatre company in Palermo.
The team of four performed in a large hall around the corner from our hotel.
It was touch and go whether they would perform because they said they would only do so if there was a minimum of six in the audience.
We were eight.
Suspect tourism is still something if a novelty in Sicily because there was no attempt to advertise this excellent local cultural event in either our hotel or surrounding area. In fact we heard other guests were told that booking would be essential and it would be doubtful if they could get tickets. On hearing this we almost did not go but decided on the off chance to go anyway . And that's when we learnt they needed a minimum if six in the audience.

The performance of this ancient art reflected traditional stories already familiar to Sicilians today - conflict between Christianity and Islam - and in view if the current situation in the Middle East have an added poignancy today.

All attempts to access Internet failed- hotel offered no explanation and there were no Internet cafes.

Hence this back blip now back in London.
