A slice of Lesley's life

What's her story?

In the world according to Anna every statue must have a story. Seems like a very reasonable view to me but I had to let her down on this one - she isn't so much interested in an interpreted story from the viewer's perspective - she wants to know the sculptor's intention and the story they want to tell. This part of London (around City Hall and London Bridge) is dripping with random statues so I had no chance. We were all rather taken with this one regardless.

Earlier we fared better on the story front with both kids being experts on The Monument and The Great Fire of London (key topic in Y1). Anna was quite beside herself with excitement, though a tad disappointed that we didn't climb the 311 steps to the top as J was feeling a bit out of sorts. I've had to promise a return trip in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I will remember to take another lens apart from my lovely new one - I'm not sure it would do the views of London justice.

Finished our afternoon outing to a trip to a mighty fine brasserie, Brigade, for a bite to eat before heading to the Unicorn Theatre to see an excellent production, A Winter's Tale, based on the Shakespeare play.

The morning of work seems a long way away and the afternoon was an excellent start to a full four days of nothing but holiday.
