Shadows over Park of Keir

A shadow hangs over Park of Keir. Will this landscape soon be filled with executive housing, hotel, tennis centre, etc.? Or will it remain what it is - an iconic landscape linking the two historic towns of Dunblane and Bridge of Allan?

Nine months after the Scottish Minister was “minded’ to grant permission to Judy Murray’s legacy of a national tennis centre on Park of Keir we are no further forward.

According to the local paper, the Stirling Observer, the council and developer are still in “negotiations” yet there is no evidence that anything concrete has been achieved except an awful lot of talking. There is scant information on these talks and certainly no transparency.

Meanwhile Judy Murray has virtually disappeared from the Park of Keir scene. She has moved away, some say she is in London others that she is still living somewhere in Scotland.

A key part of the project was the raising of £8.5 million of public funds. At the Public Inquiry she assured the Reporter that this would be possible. So far there has been no evidence of this.

On the other hand Judy Murray is now an established celebrity, a brand much in demand for all kinds of events.

Sometimes one wonders who was using who…
