At twilight

The bright sunshine and cloudless sky drew me out to the garden and I started gardening again for the first time in a while. It was very enjoyable despite getting cold fingers from sifting soil and compost.

I had intended to go down down to the Lime Brook, the stream which formed The Horns valley that runs down behind the house. The oak trees in particular are looking fine, as they are some of the last to lose their foliage. But I worked for too long to go for a walk, so instead I quickly nipped out to look for a blip in the cemetery which is only fifty yards away.

I kept seeing patches of autumnal colours where the setting sunlight was catching a few colourful trees. My eyes were drawn down this avenue to the trees towards the head of the valley, and the lichens on the gravestones.
