Open Gardens
It's the first 'Open Gardens' weekend in the village in aid of the Friends of the village church. There were a lot of gardens open and we went round as many as we could this afternoon. It's fascinating to see behind people's houses when you know the fronts on the street well; often there was much more garden than we expected and because we are in a largely linear village most of them backed onto fields so had some great views. All that we saw were lovely and put mine to shame, but then I have never professed to be a gardener. This one is one of three houses in the village which are noted as 'exceptional' in the neighbourhood plan. W said it would be lovely to have a pond in the garden like that; I pointed out that actually our house and garden would fit into that pond about three times.
