Survivors #2

Iris orientalis, another of the plants that have survived half a century (and more) in the garden here.  It's at home on the London Clay as I've noted it growing profusely in a garden over the road too.  Described two hundred and fifty years ago in 1768 and grown in parks and gardens since the late 1700's, it's clearly a toughie.

We've had a very pleasant day, even though it included a drive into central London ...... more traffic and crazy drivers/pedestrians than I'm used to!  Jamie's appointment went well and we enjoyed stopping at a roadside park on the way back.  There were assorted exercise 'contraptions' to play with, not so many that Jamie could make full use of with his unresponsive legs but it was still fun :-)  A short detour further on took us past the house where I lived for the first five years of my life, the home my father grew up in.  Memory lane.
