I'm lying on the settee listening to Radio 4 with my eyes shut, having had my second cataract done this morning. And then Louis from the Derby Royal, who I'd spoken to on Friday when chasing up my scan referral, phoned me.  He hadn't found a referral in my name, and I was able to tell him why having spoken to my GP's receptionist earlier. It seems that I've been referred for surgery and not directly for a CT scan, the consultant will okay that after seeing me.  My doctor hadn't given me enough information and I hadn't asked enough questions... so well done to Louis for chasing up my case and getting back to me.

I'd been planning to phone Louis' department in the morning (when the patch is off and I can get my reading glasses on) to ask if his department received all NHS referrals.  He said they only get the ones for scans but he gave me the number of the department most likely to be receiving my referral.

I'll see how I feel in the morning, after all I won't be able to do much for the next couple of days anyway while the new lens settles... may as well do some chasing.
