Hard work

Today I reminded Endless Weekend that cutting off the dead blossoms from her hydrangea might make it bloom again.  So she got out her pruners and got to work.  It was a perfect day to do that - low 70's, little breeze, and the sun heading West so there was some shade to work in.  Here you see the beginnings of the huge pile of pruned branches.  You can see EW doing the pruning in the Extra.

The hard work for me today was buying a recliner, for which EW accompanied me.  It was a shock to discover that the new recliner would cost $200 more than the old one, that delivery would cost $100, and they would not, as they always did in the past, take away the old one.  The one that was the most comfortable came in only two colors at my price point, so I now own a "putty" colored chair.  All the up and downs of trying out recliners really made me dizzy, taking place as it did in a large, high-ceilinged, brightly lit room.  Even my sunglasses didn't help much.  But the chair will be delivered on Thursday, and then I'll still have the decision to make about bed or old recliner for sleeping.  This vertigo thing has really gotten old.

We stopped at Penzey's Spices on the way home and had fun checking out the herbs and spices while stocking up on the things we'd run out of.  It's so much nicer than ordering from the catalog, and they give free gifts depending on how much you spend.  Mine was shallot flakes, an interesting idea.
