Call for Volunteers

We really enjoyed reading all your comments on our last post celebrating the third anniversary of the community’s takeover of Blipfoto. The board’s main focus during the last three years has been to make the site financially stable and sustainable, and the software as robust and as easy to maintain as possible. The membership level is currently in good shape. The software is in good shape. Now is the time to look to the future.

As a Community Interest Company, our members are at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that the long-term health of the site depends upon attracting new members. Much as we'd like it to be, we can’t rely on the current membership blipping forever. While the current directors, with the invaluable help of Michele, have the capacity to maintain the site, we are looking for additional volunteers who can bring their skills to Blipfoto, particularly in order to help grow the membership.

So, who are we looking for?

Initially, we’d love to hear from anyone with experience in marketing, particularly of the on-line kind. We don’t have the money to throw at advertising campaigns so we need to take advantage of the opportunities provided by social media marketing. We also want to increase our presence on social media platforms. If you have these skills, or feel you can contribute in this way, we would love to hear from you.

Allied to this would be people with experience in journalism. We’d like to get more exposure for Blipfoto out there in the wider media. We have a great story of our own to tell, and many blippers have their own fascinating accounts of their time on Blipfoto. Who can help write them and gain exposure?  And finally, we’d love to get some help with our business administration. Again, get in touch if you think you can help, or are willing to share your thoughts.

Please contact us via info@blipfoto.com, telling us a little bit about yourself, your background and what you feel you can offer. We’ll get back in touch to discuss further. Even if you don’t have the time to devote to such a role, you may be willing to share your knowledge and experience. It would be invaluable, so please get in touch.

That isn’t to say that everyone can’t help. We know we’ve asked before, but every member can do their bit by encouraging family, friends and other people they know to try out Blipfoto. You are our greatest advocates and we know that many of you have done this in the past, in some cases bringing in several new members.
