The Palace hotel which was built in the 1920's stands empty, it's been sold to a Singapore investor, whose plans are to raze the current 141 bedroom hotel building to the ground, to be replaced with a 132 bedroom 5 star hotel plus 40 properties built in the grounds. It seems such a shame to destroy such a beautiful building, but apparently cheaper to knock down and start again.

Well the sky looked fab at 6.15 this morning but I only jumped out of bed to go and make a cuppa then jump back in with my book, All The Light We Cannot See written by Anthony Doerr. It was recommended & lent to me by a friend, and I'm really enjoying it. Probably not a book I would go to on a bookshelf I have to admit, so it's good of Goolab to think of me.

Tilly, Molly & I did a lap of Cary Park then back for breakfast & medication. Topped up the bird feeders, did a bit of deadheading, daffs look great but soon look tatty as they are going over.

Had it in my mind to walk to this hotel but was'nt sure how far it was from where I'm staying but set off with Molly who was keen to stretch her legs, so I was pleasantly surprised to find it was only about 1mile away ....  Of course there were railings all around the entrance but Molly, naughty girl squeezed through between the railings and hedge so I followed, just far enough to get a decent angle. Taking a leaf out of Cassiesmum 's book. Lol!!  Of course just as I as coming out through the gap a couple were walking past with their Springer spaniel, so we got chatting. It's lovely meeting people, having dogs I find makes all the difference. They headed up the steps towards Walls Hill through the woods & I went down to Anstey's Cove where the sea was the most amazing colour. Got chatting to another lady and her 14 year old Border collie, when out of nowhere came a hail shower. Large hailstones too. Turns out she has just been made redundant from the Waitrose store in Torquay. They are closing down, the supermarket site bought by Lidl's apparently. There was a young person stood high on the cliff opposite, definitely out beyond the safety fencing. They stood there for quite awhile & I was'nt sure whether I should perhaps call the police. Sadly it's an area where people have been known to take their lives. As I was moving up off the beach so the person walked back from the edge.

The dogs have had me up & down all evening, I think having my meal early afternoon has thrown their routine. Tilly was definitely trying to tell me something on more than one occasion. I caught her outside stargazing .. well, it's too cold to have all the doors open, so I explained she could do that through the window.

Right I'm off to watch Race Across the World. Love travel so this is right up my street, bit stressful doing it at this pace though. Who's going to win???? That's the question.
