Hill With a View

Part of my latter years of high school was spent discovering the joys of being in the hills, particularly the Ochil Hills. A particularly forward-thinking PE teacher decided to introduce the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to our raggle-taggle school. Not many took up the opportunity, but in those days I was willing to try anything.

Dumyat is not a big hill at all but my teenage memories are of a pretty steep climb.

I had a hankering to visit Dumyat this morning and was pleased to discover there is a gentler alternative route these days.

I took my youngest with me. I'm not sure she was too enthralled by the idea at 9am on a Sunday morning but I bribed her with promises of visiting a friend who is a great cook and who has a new puppy!

We had a lovely mum and daughter walk and chat, and I reckon the teenager enjoyed herself more than she was prepared to admit!
As promised, we were treated to a lovely lunch and some puppy cuddles.
This is the view from Dumyat summit looking North (West) towards the Trossachs and beyond...
