Happy Holidays!

First full day of our trip. Up early and raring to go after a good jet-lag induced sleep!

Our morning began with breakfast in Ellen's Stardust Diner as this was our meeting point for our bus tour at 11am. The diner had kitsch 1950's decor and served up all the American breakfast classics, with singing waiters and waitresses! I've never had pancakes brought to my table by someone belting out a Broadway standard, only in New York.

The bus tour was themed around tv and movie locations in New York. We saw highlights such as the Plaza Hotel, the apartment from Friends, the fire station from Ghostbusters and the Men in Black HQ (officially known as the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Ventilator Building!).

We snapped this cheery looking NYPD cop from the bus.

After the tour we walked down through Hells' Kitchen to the Highline, a disused stretch of railway that has been turned into a walkway and park. A quick pitstop for hot apple cider in Union Square farmers' market fuelled us for a spot of shopping, pizza in Johns' of Bleecker and the biggest cookie ever from Pasticceria Rocco to take home for dessert. Both were typical Italian-American establishments.

Finished the day with drinks just off Times Square then slept like babies!
