Gilbert O’Sullivan at Cadogan Hall

We met up with my lovely old friend Steve Lee and his wife Jozette, Stephen I have been friends for almost 30 years and we were in a band together for years in the 90s.
It’s always great fun seeing them both, unfortunately Max didn’t like the concert, I just thought he liked him but he doesn’t, in fact he said he can’t remember enjoying the concert less ever LOL, anyway he managed quite well maybe because he was very tired…
I’ve always had a soft spot for Gilbert and like many people absolutely adore this song Nothing Rhymed and I shared a few tears when he sang it, he had Graham Gold from 10cc on bass for one number and a bloke from Alabama 3 played harmonica on another. I would say that the concert was definitely too long, It had an interval like a theatre show but I’m really good at seeing him, he is 72 now, his songs are unique and his writing style is very interesting, nobody else sounds like him, His songs remind me of more innocent times, of my childhood, of my mother…

We went to a local pub afterwards for a few drinks and a catch up, it was so lovely to see them both.
