Pheasant

These beautiful gamebirds are raised in the UK for gun sport with the annual release said to be in excess of 20 million birds. If this one stays within the boundaries of the Scottish Wildlife Reserve in Perthshire it will avoid such a fate.
How people get pleasure from this sport beats me. I came across this specimen wandering through the woods there and it was not bothered by my presence. It would be a different story on a grouse moor. Pheasants, grouse, partridges and quail all come under the umbrella of game birds.
