Prague #3

Leaving the hotel a little after 10am, Caitlin and I spent the day exploring Prague, revisiting at our pace some of yesterday's sights and finding new sources of entertainment. A day that included some souvenir shops, the Saturday street market, (clearly warming up for Christmas),  stunningly opulent church interiors, the famous astronomical clock strike the hour, street musicians (including today's pictured and jolly fun 'Bridge Band' Dixieland jazz group, making it a three day in a row Vltava blip for me!), lunch near the King Charles bridge, a gazillion photos of beautiful buildings, an afternoon beer in the Hard Rock Cafe, an art gallery visit to see an exhibition of works by Czech Art Nouveau graphic artist Mucha, and last but not least, a curiosity stroll through all three floors of Hamleys Toy Shop just off Wenceslas Square where Christmas has landed like a megatron bomb of colourful toys on display to tease and tempt crowds of over excited children. There was even a fairground carousel!!

Finally, 15000 steps and more than nine hours later after considerable cultural and sensory overload, we fell into the hotel lobby bar to round off the day with another pint. Phew!

Mono Monday 25th November: for my last week as host for Mono Monday in November, the chosen topic is "Beauty" - inspired by these few days in beautiful Prague, home of Franz Kafka (1883-1924), who said: "Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty. Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old." Please feel free to interpret, misinterpret (or even ignore!) this suggested theme in any way you wish on Monday 25th November. Your blip should be tagged mm305.
